Recommended Sources of Basic Tech Info
The items in this first list contain information
that might be called foundational knowledge. A good understanding of
all the details in these publications will serve one well in
automotive fabrication work. The basic concepts presented will help
tremendously in the study of other books and articles that address
more specific topics and techniques-- from metalwork, suspension
design and engine building to all other fields involved in building a
car.
It may be noticed that quite a few of these titles
have been around for twenty or more years. This does not mean they are
out-of-date. Since for the most part they contain basic concepts, they
may well never become dated to any great degree. If anything, for a
soft cover technical book to remain popular and on the market for
decades is a good indication that it contains valid information.
This list is in no particular order other than
alphabetically by author's name.
Some of these books may be difficult to find at a
local dealer. The hyperlinked book titles lead to either a direct
source for purchase or a book search/listing service. A wait of many
seconds, or an even longer period on slow connections, is required for
the search to complete. Be sure to wait for the comparison listing to
appear on-screen.
